"A must do in Queenstown"
"Great fun even in the wet"
"A really fun family activity"
A great new option in Queenstown activities!
Riding an eco-friendly Segway Personal Transporter (PT) is quite a unique experience. The machine stays balanced by a system of gyroscopes and microprocessors termed 'dynamic stabilisation'. To propel the vehicle forwards, you simply lean forwards. To stop, just put your weight back. This sensation, while a little weird at first, is a thrill that everyone seems to enjoy.

Queenstown Activities
The resort town of Queenstown is a centre for adventure tourism. There are such a wide range of Queenstown activities that there really is something for everybody. Known as the Adventure Capital of the World, Queenstown is the home of bungy jumping, jet boating and river boarding. White-water rafting, mountain biking, skydiving, tramping and fly fishing are also all strong components of the industry. Plenty of other Queenstown activities are on offer to keep you amused too like Segway tours, wine tours, walking, sailing, climbing, cycling, golfing and off-roading.
Queenstown is a major centre for snow sports with a number of ski fields in the area. The major areas are Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Cardrona and Treble Cone. Across the valley from Cardrona are Waiorau Snow Farm for cross country skiing and Snow Park for the freestylers.
Adventure Tourism History
Coronet Peak opened to become New Zealand’s first commercial ski field in 1947. A Kiwi by the name of Bill Hamilton was commissioned to build their first rope tow. In the 1950’s Hamilton went on to create the first jet boat. Kawarau Jet started the world’s first commercial operation here in 1960. In the mid 1970’s rafting became popular. Then in 1988 AJ Hackett began to offer the masses an opportunity to throw themselves off a bridge with a giant rubber band attached to their ankles. Commercial bungy jumping was born.
Among the massive selection of Queenstown activities today, Segway tours are fast gaining a reputation as an exciting new alternative.
